Coffee leads to artist collaboration

Early morning coffee “stop-and-chats” outside Ode on Navan’s Market Square has led to a unique collaboration between two of Navan’s creatives. Conversations about art and culture lead to painter Annette Smyth asking writer Richard Ball to compose poems in response to her latest series of artworks.

The paintings are based on reflections in colourful bric-à-brac shop windows and evoke a wide range of memories, emotions and feelings. Richard Ball, a popular teacher in St. Patrick’s Classical School in Navan for many years, has written wonderful, dynamic poetry to sit alongside seven of these artworks.

The “Window Series” paintings and accompanying poems, as well as many other pieces will be on show at Annette’s first solo exhibition later this month in the Signal Arts Centre in Bray. The show titled “Yesterday, I saw the Earth Beautiful” runs from 27th April to 10th May with the Official Opening on Sunday 3rd May at 3pm.
