Legs set apart and pint in hand\u00a0
\nleading out the tribute band\u00a0
\ncheck out the state and stance of me\u00a0
\nlike the late great Freddie Mercury.\u00a0
\nAcross the window, Baconesque,\u00a0
\nscattered like a writer's desk,
\nmy motley crew put on a show\u00a0
\nnot perfect but as these things go\u00a0
\nnot bad. On lead and bass guitar\u00a0
\nmy Michelin men may not go far,\u00a0
\nbut farther than my backing boys\u00a0
\nwho hold their balls like fragile toys.\u00a0
\nThey just don't get this rocker game
\nand freeze in front of Metges Lane.
\nThey fear exposure, but not me\u00a0
\ninspired beneath the canopy\u00a0
\nwith Guinness sponsors at my back\u00a0
\nlike Freddie, there's no holding back
\nand colours then begin to glow.\u00a0
\nI'm not hallucinating. No!
\nI've never seen a bluer sky.
\nEver watch the world go by
\nwhile it watched back? That's what I do
\nreflecting every day the new,\u00a0
\nthe old. The people come and go\u00a0
\nno talk of Michelangelo
\nbut ancient stone and brick are there.\u00a0
\nThey animate the market square.\u00a0
